Recognising outstanding contribution

Skin Cancer NZ Honours recognise individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to reducing the impact of skin cancer in New Zealand.

Award categories

Life Membership

Life Membership is the highest form of recognition awarded by Skin Cancer NZ. It is reserved for individuals who have made extraordinary and enduring contributions at an organisational, national or international level.

To be eligible for this award, individuals must demonstrate:

  • Exceptional and sustained service over time
  • Significant strategic or sector impact
  • Leadership beyond normal governance or role expectations

Distinguished Service Award

The Distinguished Service Award recognises individuals who have demonstrated sustained service or made a significant contribution to a specific programme, initiative or area of work.

To be eligible for this award, individuals must demonstrate one of:

  • Sustained service over time
  • Significant contribution to a programme or initiative
  • Exceptional advocacy, fundraising or volunteer service

Make a nomination

Skin Cancer NZ members are encouraged to nominate someone for recognition. Nominees may be members or non-members of Skin Cancer NZ. 

Nominations may be submitted at any time throughout the year by email to hello@skincancer.org.nz.

When submitting a nomination, be sure to include:

  1. The name of the nominee
  2. The proposed award category
  3. Written justification (maximum 300 words)

You may also include supporting information or evidence to strengthen the nomination.

Nominations are reviewed annually by the Skin Cancer NZ Executive ahead of the Annual General Meeting and assessed against the relevant criteria outlined in the Honours Framework.
