Results of an international clinical trial of the personalised mRNA treatment intismeran, given alongside the immunotherapy pembrolizumab in people with high-risk melanoma following surgery, have now been published. The risk of recurrence or death was reduced by 42% compared to standard immunotherapy.
The trial was led by Melanoma Institute of Australia (MIA)'s Prof Georgina Long AO.
This landmark finding represents a foundational shift in how cancer is treated. Proven in melanoma, these results establish a new personalised approach, opening the door for potential new treatments for other cancers.
