Every year, around 100,000 New Zealanders are diagnosed with skin cancer, and more than 500 lives are lost. Yet there is hope — up to 90% of skin cancers are preventable, and almost all are curable when detected early. Building on the legacy of MelNet, Skin Cancer NZ is launching this year as New Zealand’s national authority on skin cancer prevention, early detection, and high-quality care.
To mark this milestone, Skin Cancer NZ has established the Foundation Club — an opportunity for 100 individuals, families, organisations, and businesses to become founding supporters through a one-off donation.
“Skin cancer is New Zealand’s most common cancer, but it is also one of the most preventable and treatable,” said Susan Seifried, Chair of Skin Cancer NZ. “By joining the Foundation Club, supporters can help ensure more New Zealanders have access to prevention, early detection, education, and consistent high-quality care. This is an opportunity to create a lasting impact for future generations.”
Funds raised through the Foundation Club will support Skin Cancer NZ’s work to reduce the incidence and impact of skin cancer through national education, professional training, standards development, advocacy, and equitable access initiatives.
The Foundation Club is more than a donation — it is an opportunity to help shape the future of skin cancer care in New Zealand and stand alongside a national movement working to save lives.
